2nd Annual Rose Education Foundation
Celebrity Benefit Gala
June 28, 2003
The Elevate Hope Foundation participated in the 2nd Annual Rose Education Foundation Celebrity Benefit Gala on Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The proceeds from this annual event go towards providing greater educational opportunities for under-privileged children in Latin America, with the support of agencies such as Elevate Hope Foundation. This year, the event was a great success.
The evening, hosted by Ana Maria (CNN Latin), began with a cocktail reception and silent auction, with music, film, art and sports memorabilia donated. Following the silent auction, the guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner and a live auction hosted by actor Mario Lopez and Rose Education Foundation founder Nedra Roney.
The Rose Award this year was presented to Eduardo Suger, Ph.D., for his significant contribution to science and education, as a founding dean of Universidad Francisco Marroquin, a prominent private university in Guatemala, and founder of Universidad Galileo.
The evening was topped off with great entertainment, featuring performances from Patti LaBelle (via satellite from Durham, N.C.), J.C. Chasez from *NSYNC, Trevor Hall, Joy Enriquez and Anti Gravity. However, it was Sheila E. and her band that brought the house to their feet with standing ovations for a riveting performance!
At the end of the night, Roney announced that the evening was a great financial success. Not only would this event secure the building of the new school in Guatemala, but the Rose Education Foundation would be taken world wide.
